We totally understand that change can be nerve wracking (& exciting), especially since this involves your fur babies. On this page, we'll go over our most frequently asked questions so far.
In short, not much has changed at this point - other than the name! Our two main animal handlers are the same, the rooms + air conditioning are the same, and the daily schedule has only improved to benefit the pets by letting them out earlier in the morning. We come with almost two decades of pet experience and only seek to enhance your pets stay + your time!
We are transitioning to a digital booking system that way you can book online, message us, upload vaccination records, and recieve annoucements + reminders efficently. You can still call us to book, there is no issue with that at all, whatever is easiest for you, we encourage you to do. More questions are answered below!
Answers to questions about Under The Oaks Pet Resort
When did Canterbury Tails become Under The Oaks?
We became Under The Oaks Pet Resort on July 15, 2026.
I have an upcoming reservation I made with Canterbury , what does this mean for me?
All reservations and their deposits are transfering over to us! Most of August's existing reservations have been digitized, and we're working our way through the rest of the year. We're going through and calling all upcoming bookings as well to introuduce ourselves! Mistakes do happen though, and on the off chance a reservation may not have been logged for us to transfer. You're welcome to give us a call to review your reservation, but it's completely up to you.
Why weren't we given notice of the change?
We were not part of that decison making process, so we can't speak to the reason. However, we do understand that it can be hurtful to not have been told given the personal nature of this business. There is not an email list currently, so we were unable to send out an annoucement once we took over.
Did prices increase?
Nope, we have not increased our rates. Canterbury Tails set a $70 rate in May 2026, we have not chaged this. They also charged a 3.5% credit card fee on all card transactions, ours is 2.95%. We understand that receipts were not typically given out unless by request, so this may be suprising when we send you a copy of your reciept. Rest assured, we did not increase the price on you and we do not have plans to.
Do you have all of my information on file still?
We should! Sometimes records do not get placed in the correct place, whether using a digital system or paper. In some cases, we will ask you for a copy of your vaccination records as they did not make it over to us, and your email address so we can add you to our system.
Has the daily schedule changed?
The daily schedule remains the same, with one change. We now start between 6:30 and 7:30am instead of 8:30 to ensure the pups get outside before the heat picks up and to give them time to go to the bathroom earlier.
Are the rooms the same? Do you still have AC?
The rooms are the same, and we most definetly still have air conditioning!
Are drop off and pickup times the same?
Yes, drop off is between 9:00am and 4:30pm. Pick up is between 9:00am and 5:00pm with daycare charged applying after 12:00pm. Our nightly rate still includes pickup by noon, after that there is the same fee of $12 per hour or $45 for the full day.
Pickups and dropoffs outside of normal business hours must be pre arranged and will incur the same $17 fee.
Are the vacination requirements different?
We require the same vaccinations which are as follows for dogs: DHPP (sometimes written as DA2PP or Distemper Parovirus), Rabies and Bordetella to be current. For cats. it's also the same: FVRCP, Rabies and FeLV must be current.
With digitizing the records, we'll be setting up reminder emails so you know if your pet has an expiring vaccination. It will also be easier for us to check on vaccination status.
Is the deposit & cancelation policy the same?
We require a non-refundable $70 deposit per stay per pet, if you cancel your stay, your deposit will be forfeited. Other than that, you can cancel but we request at least three days notice so we can try to fill the suite. Emergencies happen and we completely understand this, but multiple last minute cancelations will result in a higher deposit or being unable to book. As a small business, we appreciate our customers respecting our time.
For existing Canterbury clients, we'll honor store credit for the first cancelation.
Are we still able to call to book or does it have to be online?
You can certainly give us a call and we'll be happy to book your stay! Online booking is completely optional.

Nope! Our phone number is the same for calls, and we encourage you to give us a ring if that's what you prefer. Our online platform allows you to book online, message us, and update your records. We also use this for vaccination reminders, updates and our email list in the event of any annoucments! We recommened signing up to stay current, no need to download the app, it will simply allow us to communicate with you more easily.
Do you still charge a credit card fee?
We do. Canterbury Tails was charging 3.5% on all card transactions. We charge our exact processing rate, 2.95%, on credit card transactions only. While we don't love it, it has become necessary for small businesses as rates increase. You can pay with a debit card, cash or check to avoid this fee.
